Extensive Developer Capabilities

Recite CMS is built upon PHP 5 and the Zend Framework. Developers can use PHP to extend the capabilities of Recite CMS.

Developers can create their own custom modules, which are used to greatly extend the capabilities of Recite CMS.

Some of the aspects that can be developed include:

  • Custom modules. Modules are used to greatly extend the capabilities of Recite CMS. Primarily they are used to define new data storage and models for accessing this data.
  • Custom Control Panel widgets. Add new functionality to the Control Panel. This may be used to let users manipulate custom modules, or you can create additional widgets for existing modules.
  • Custom drivers for existing modules. Many of the core Recite CMS modules can be extended using drivers.

Some of the drivers that can be written include:

  • Forms. Recite CMS comes with many standard form types (such as custom contact form, user log in, user registration), but developers can create their own types in addition to these.
  • Search indexes. Developers can choose how to store search results if they want different behaviour to the built-in search index types.
  • Feed Types. Recite CMS allows you to easily create RSS, Atom and Google Sitemaps feeds, but developers can easily create feeds in any other format.
  • Page Types. Developers can create their own page types, meaning any pages created using that type will behave however required. Some examples of existing page types include the default type (output some HTML using pre-define templates), redirection (go to another URL when somebody visits the page), and web feed output (display the XML for a web feed).
